CATHERINE KENDALL

Managing Director

Catherine Kendall has worked in the information technology (IT) field for nearly 30 years. After graduating UC Davis with a BS in Agricultural and Managerial Economics, Catherine went to work for Accenture as a programmer, where after two years she was recruited by Deloitte to perform business process reengineering and system testing. After four years in consulting, Catherine returned to UC Davis where she received her MBA from the Graduate School of Management.

Catherine then worked at IBM for over ten years in increasingly senior roles where she was responsible for operational contracts in excess of $868 million. While with IBM, Catherine lived and worked in Silicon Valley, Sacramento, and New York.

Following her tenure at IBM, Catherine returned to school and earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in education policy. Her dissertation was on the experience of domestic violence among African American, Russian, and Hispanic women in Sacramento County.

Upon completion of her doctorate, Catherine was hired by KAIP to serve as Managing Director, the position she currently holds. Soon after starting at KAIP, Catherine was recruited by the State of California to be the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Department of Conservation, a position she filled for just under three years before returning to KAIP in her role as Managing Director.

Catherine currently provides consulting services for the State University of New York (SUNY), University of California, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and other public sector organizations. She is also an adjunct professor of Information Technology at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and at Sierra College.

Catherine enjoys spending time with her husband and four dogs. She loves to read (especially macroeconomic history), watch scary movies from the ‘80s, play classical piano, and do volunteer work with the elderly. Her favorite quote is from Abraham Lincoln: “Whatever you are, be a good one.”
